Excavating is creative work...

Today's theme was painting. Dr. Howard continues his effort to reveal the large image that will adorn the Volcano. He surmised that the Bamboodus revered the God of Inspiration paying daily homage. Howard painstakingly applies the acyrlic to form the icon.

Howard happily demonstrates his Paint Your Shoes technique for the Society members who have laid out their shoes for the ritual. The pattern resembles the DNA of the bamboo. Rheingold contends the technique is not really Jackson Pollack-ish since Pollack dripped where Rheingold splatters and drips.

The shoes with several layers of paint applied. Painting one's shoes requires many layers with occasional refreshing of layers as needed. The urge to paint your shoes is an ongoing process. Taking Neal Cassady's advice to heart, Dr. Really? carefully masks the side of soles of his shoes to prevent the tires from getting painted... so-to-speak.

Below, the painting of the flowers produces a zen feeling among The Mind Shaft Society members as they guide the acrylic molecules over the fibrous surfaces. Standard painting practices can not be applied here since the effect is to resemble plants of a cosmic nature. Once the paints are open, a notable change in the atmosphere is evident.

Dr. Skids presented a fascinating find. Reptiles were prevalent on Inspiration Island in the Trankwill Sea. He showed a ten foot skin from the Bamboodutus Reptilias Elongus. Dr. Skids determined the reptile fed on predators of the precious bamboo. It's long tongue was able to snap up creatures lighting on the bamboo from twenty-two feet away.

The Garden of Earthly Delights reconstruction under the direction of Dr. Fabio is beginning to take shape. Below, Priscilla - Queen of the Desert and Dr. Fabio display the days' fabrications. Working from notes carefully transcribed on location, The Mind Shaft Society enjoys the fruits of their labor.

Dr. Really? expresses satisfaction with the progress of the recreation of the Grand Bamboodu Ritual Inspiration Mask which will be displayed at the exhibition in Black Rock City later this summer. Fabricated from native bamboo fibers, the Mask oversees all actions on Inspiration Island.
